As part of the program of events during his working visit to Kazakhstan, on April 22, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev together with the heads of delegations from the countries of Central Asia, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia, visited the national pavilions at the exhibition of the Regional Ecological Summit, held at the International Exhibition Center EXPO in the city of Astana.
The focus of RES-2026 is on eight priority areas that reflect a comprehensive approach to environmental policy: combating climate change, ensuring food security and ecosystem sustainability, adapting to natural risks and enhancing economic resilience, reducing air pollution and ensuring effective waste management, developing mechanisms to achieve environmental goals, sustainable management of natural resources, a just and inclusive green transition, and developing environmental and digital competencies. The summit agenda covers both environmental and socioeconomic aspects of sustainable development.
The countries participating in the summit are showcasing their achievements and future plans in these areas in their national pavilions.
The Uzbekistan pavilion, designed as an exhibition and presentation space featuring interactive and multimedia elements, reflects the priority areas of state policy in ecology, climate change, and sustainable development in Central Asia. It also demonstrates Uzbekistan’s contribution to strengthening regional and international cooperation in the environmental sphere.
The distinguished guests were presented with an exhibition showcasing key initiatives to shape a modern environmental development model. These include the nationwide projects “Waste-Free Territory”, “Clean Air”, “Yashil Makon”, “Eco-Culture”, “Bioheritage”, and “Environmental Education”.
Special attention was given to addressing the consequences of the Aral Sea tragedy and to developing partnerships with international organizations, primarily United Nations agencies.
