President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the boarding school for children with disabilities, “Muruvvat”
Uzbekistan is a social state. This corresponds to the eternal values of our people and the principle of respect for a person’s honor and dignity. Over the past five years, government funding for “Muruvvat” homes has more than tripled. The number of employees and capacity of these institutions have also increased.
Last year, the National Social Protection Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan was created to provide quality services and assistance to the population. “Muruvvat” homes and many other social institutions, such as boarding houses and rehabilitation centers, were transferred to the Agency’s system.
Last year, 624 billion UZS were allocated from the state budget for these institutions’ activities. In addition, twice as much money was allocated to provide them with medicines and medical products as before.
Previously, the “Muruvvat” homes did not interact with each other. Today, they exchange experiences and introduce practical methods and educational practices.
Thanks to government support, the “Muruvvat” home in Tashkent has also been transformed. An additional building was built, and the old buildings were completely renovated. The gymnasium, nursing and physical therapy departments, medical and academic rooms, auditorium, library, bedrooms, and dining room have been completely renovated. Each department and specialized room is equipped according to modern requirements. The institution is provided with special strollers for children with mobility difficulties.
The institution provides medical and social services to children aged 4 to 18 years who suffer from severe psychological disorders. Today, there are 299 children under guardianship. They are assisted by 334 employees, including qualified teachers, speech pathologists, and doctors.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev observed the children’s activities and spoke warmly with them. He emphasized that every effort will be made to improve conditions, create even greater amenities in the home, and help children with disabilities realize their potential.
The President expressed gratitude to social service workers and highly appreciated their efforts and care for children.
“Thank you very much for the fact that the children are in good hands. This is a very difficult, but at the same time necessary and noble work”, the Head of state said.
Views were exchanged on the rehabilitation of children, their social adaptation, and psychological assistance to parents. In recent years, opportunities and a system of work have appeared in this area. Now, it is necessary to improve conditions in other social institutions.
From now on, “Muruvvat” homes will be equipped with modern rehabilitation equipment and operate according to a new concept. This concept involves integrating children into society based on individual development programs. Meeting rooms will be created in all “Muruvvat” homes.
“Support Clubs” will also be created, where qualified specialists will provide guardians with knowledge on how to care for children with disabilities, raise them in a family environment, and adapt them to society. For children with serious illnesses who are not recommended for special education, a “Care Group” will be created. All regional rehabilitation centers will provide such services for children with disabilities.
The institution’s boiler room and engineering networks were also completely updated. Decorative and fruit trees were planted on the territory, street lighting was installed, and the paths were paved.
The blessed month of Ramadan is when we take special care of the sick and show even more support and attention to each other, which is a noble value of our people.
