The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan during the talks at the Kuksaroy residence "checked the clock" on topical issues of strategic partnership

Yesterday, Negotiations in a contracted format have been held between the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan at Kuksaroy Residence, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev again congratulated Sadyr Zhaparov on his election as President of the Kyrgyz Republic and expressed support for his efforts to ensure a peaceful life and wellbeing of the Kyrgyz people.

At the meeting that has taken place in an open and friendly atmosphere, the heads of state highly assessed the current level of relations. The leaders discussed a wide range of issues for further development of cooperation in political, trade-economic, transport-communication and other areas.

The Presidents reaffirmed their determination to strengthen strategic partnerships based on equality and mutual benefit, as well as their commitment to the implementation of previously adopted documents. An agreement was reached to maintain a regular political dialogue at the highest and high levels to progressively enhance collaboration in all areas.

The historical significance of the Treaty on Uzbekistan – Kyrgyz State Border, signed on 5 September 2017, was emphasized. The instruction was given to intensify negotiations to complete the delimitation of the remaining sections of the border between the countries of the Intergovernmental Commission.

Views were exchanged on the regional and international agenda, during which the parties confirmed the coincidence of positions on most pressing issues.

The President of Kyrgyzstan expressed support for the efforts of Uzbekistan to strengthen cooperation and integration in Central Asia, as well as the initiative of Uzbekistan to hold Consultative Meetings of the heads of state of the region. The parties noted the importance of holding the Third Meeting in this format in 2021.

The importance of achieving solutions on the entire range of intraregional issues in Central Asia by the states of the region themselves based on mutual benefit and respect for each other’s interests was emphasized.

A mutual desire to develop cooperation in the international arena was expressed, including within the framework of the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States and other international structures.

Sadyr Zhaparov expressed gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the warm hospitality and friendly welcome provided to the Kyrgyz delegation and invited him to visit the Kyrgyz Republic.
