The UN reported on socio-economic development of Uzbekistan

In the Headquarters of the United Nations in New York as an official document of the 69th session of the UN General Assembly circulated in six official languages the newsletter about the results of socio-economic development of Uzbekistan in 2014 and key priorities of economic program for 2015.

The document notes that in Uzbekistan as a result of deliberate and systematic implementation of the most important priorities of economic program for 2014 have been achieved consistently high rates of economic development and its leading industries.

By the end of 2014 gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 8.1 percent, the volume of industrial production - by 8.3 percent, agricultural production - by 6.9 percent, capital construction - by 10.9 percent, retail trade - by 14.3 percent. About 70 percent of output amounted to finished goods with high added value.

It is reported that the inflation rate was 6.1 percent, well below the forecast parameters. State budget surplus is 0.2 percent of GDP. Reforming and strengthening the banking system created the necessary prerequisites for the reduction in 2014 the refinancing rate of the Central Bank from 12 to 10 percent and a corresponding reduction in the interest rate on loans to commercial banks. Over recent years, leading international rating agencies of the banking system of Uzbekistan is assessed as "stable".

The article also states that as a result of deeply thought-active investment policy for large-scale modernization, technical and technological renewal of production, social, road transport and communications infrastructure volume of investment in the economy increased by 10.9 percent and amounted to the equivalent of $ 14.6 billion. With regard to the most important priorities and socio-economic development of the country in 2015, the document states that before the Government, ministries, departments, economic associations and administrations of all levels tasked to take the necessary steps to further preservation of high economic growth, expansion of structural changes in the economy, modernization and diversification of active leading industries, deepening the localization of production, development of transport and engineering infrastructure.

Also identified organizational measures to further reduce state involvement in the economy to strategically and economically reasonable size, a radical change in the principles and approaches to corporate governance, the elimination of all barriers and constraints, providing complete freedom in development of private property and private enterprise, as well as create the necessary conditions for employment, growth, living standards and quality of life.

Particular attention is paid to ensuring the implementation of policy measures on the achievement of this year’s goals and objectives identified in connection with the announcement of its "Year of attention and care for senior generation", including measures to provide adequate attention and comprehensive support to older people, especially veterans War and labor front of 1941-1945, raising the level and quality of health and social services, supporting software needs and technical means of rehabilitation, raising to a new level of organization of life and leisure elderly.
