As previously reported, the delegation of representatives of Women’s Committee and Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Republican Women’s Committee Elmira Basitkhanova, visited Germany on November 9-13.
The visit was organized at the invitation of the Bundestag and Savings Banks Foundation for International Cooperation of Germany.
Uzbekistan’s delegation held meetings with the officials of the Bundestag, the Federal Chancellery, Ministries and other public agencies of federal and regional significance in Germany during the visit.
The Uzbek delegation got acquainted with the German experience and practice of women’s participation in political, social and economic activities. In addition, issues as basic principles and mechanisms of federal and land parliaments’ functioning, the organization of legislative work, the implementation of parliamentary control and interaction with executive authorities were studied.
The sides have exchanged views on further expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany during the negotiations, as well as the cooperation in the field of women’s entrepreneurship.
The German side got detailed information about the implementation of successive measures in the Republic to improve women’s role and status in society, ensure their rights and interests, create necessary conditions for the growth of socio-political and economic activity, women’s spiritual and physical potential.
Official agencies and public organizations of Germany have highly appreciated the commitment of Uzbekistan’s authority to further strengthen women’s role in public administration, based on study and application of international best practices. They stressed the adherence of Germany to further develop bilateral relations with Uzbekistan on a constructive and mutually beneficial basis.
The German side expressed its readiness to support the efforts of Uzbekistan’s government in the sphere of social protection of population, measures to ensure women’s active participation in modernization of the country, the further development of education, health, science and culture.
