TRAVEL AGENTS MEET AT UK EMBASSY

The Embassy of the United Kingdom in Tashkent hosted a meeting with representatives of Uzbek travel agencies to discuss prospects of cooperation.

Charge d’Affaires Miss Fiona Maxton welcomed 21 people representing 17 companies operating in the tourism industry in Uzbekistan, according to the Embassy. The purpose of the meeting was to share information about the UK as a great tourist destination and to discuss potential cooperation between travel agencies of Uzbekistan and the UK. She noted that tourism to and from Uzbekistan is an important contribution to the economies of the two countries.

The meeting included a video-teleconference with the manager of VisitBritain in Moscow, which is the UK’s national tourism agency that has a unique role in raising Britain’s profile worldwide.

She shared information about tourism in the UK, its culture and heritage, as well as leading an interactive discussion on possible ways of strengthening cooperation between VisitBritain and Uzbek travel agencies. She said the UK is projected to have a tourism industry worth over F257 billion by 2025.

UK travel guides translated into Uzbek were distributed among the travel agencies. The guides include information on various destinations in the UK, things to do, and travel options available across the country.
