USGAM: UZBEKISTAN PROVIDES THE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT OF CITIZENS TO OBTAIN INFORMATION

Electronic portal of the Turkish Center for Research on International Strategy and Security (USGAM) published an article devoted to the ongoing work in our country to improve the transparency of public authorities and management, ensuring the rights of citizens to receive information.

The article notes that the country has carried out wide-ranging reforms aimed at building a democratic state and a free civil society. This process focuses on raising awareness about the work of state institutions and their decisions.

— To this end, in 2014 the republic has adopted the Law "On transparency of activity of state power and control bodies" after extensive discussions with the public and successful test in a number of regions, - the portal writes. - For this purpose experts have studied experience of developed democracies, the recommendations of international organizations active in the field of information law have been taken into account. The draft law was widely discussed, including with the participation of foreign experts. A more than 40 conferences, seminars and round tables in all regions of our country, the results of which are summarized about 100 proposals for its content.

It is reported that the adopted document significantly expands the guarantees of the rights of individuals and legal persons to obtain information about the activities of state authorities and management, increases their responsibility for decisions. Implementation of the law has increased the transparency and openness of executive authorities, reforms, external and internal policies with political pluralism and diversity of opinions.

The article stresses that a broad public awareness about the work of state institutions, the results achieved by them in the socio-political, socio-economic and other areas are operating in the country about 1400 media. It is reported that most of them are non-state media for efficient operation in the country which created favorable economic and organizational conditions.
