The documentary film “Taymetov: The Forgotten Hero”, directed by Eldor Yuldashev, was showcased at the Piccadilly Vue Cinema in London as part of the Independent International Film Festival & Awards SIFFA UK (SIFFA), reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
SIFFA is an international independent film festival and awards platform dedicated to fostering cultural dialogue and promoting global understanding through the arts, cinema, and literature.
At the awards ceremony held on 27 November in London, the film was honored as the winner in the “Best Documentary Film” category.
The film was produced at the initiative of Uzbekistan Airports and is based on archival research dedicated to the history of Tashkent International Airport. It was selected for the main competition of the London International Film Festival SIFFA, held at the renowned Piccadilly Vue Cinema from 20 to 27 November.
The documentary chronicles the life and achievements of Abdusamat Taymetov, Uzbekistan’s first military and civilian pilot, the inaugural director of Tashkent International Airport, and a distinguished aviator who made significant contributions during the Second World War. Notably, the film premiered in May of this year in Moscow as part of the “Dialogue of Cultures” media forum.
In a relatively short period, the film has garnered widespread recognition and received multiple awards, including the “Best Debut” prize at the 34th International Film Forum “Golden Knight”, the Press Award at the “Euro-Asia Film Fest”, and a special diploma from the “Dialogue of Cultures” media forum.
