The first international exhibition, Uzbek Import Fair 2025, is being held at the Uzexpocentre in Tashkent.
The event’s theme is “Import Optimization through Increased Local Content”.
The exhibition, held for the first time by the Customs Committee in cooperation with the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, brought together leaders of ministries and government agencies, representatives of international brands, distributors, investors, and entrepreneurs from all regions of the country, as well as officials of commercial banks. In addition, representatives from nearly 30 foreign companies, including those from neighboring states, the United States, Hungary, Korea, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Slovakia, Kuwait, and Japan, are participating in the event.
It is worth noting that imports to Uzbekistan have been growing steadily in recent years, increasing by 19% in 2022, 31% in 2023, and 10% during the first eight months of the current year. The dominant elements of the import structure comprise technological equipment, metals and metal products, transport vehicles and spare parts, food products, electrical goods, and fuel and petroleum products.
The exhibition features 3,000 types of goods that have high production potential in Uzbekistan but are currently among the most imported items, creating significant opportunities for local manufacturers.
To ensure a practical and informative exhibition, the displayed products are organized into 24 thematic sections across two pavilions. The primary goal is to provide local producers with accurate information about goods with high import volumes, allowing them to inspect the products firsthand. This approach is expected to help modernize existing production capacities and foster cooperation with manufacturers.
As part of the exhibition, panel sessions on import optimization will be held, and proposals for the development of local industries across 24 sectors will be formulated.
The exhibition will continue until October 9.
