LONDON, December 5th. IA "Dunyo". The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Said Rustamov, presented his credentials to Queen Elizabeth II, the Dunyo correspondent reports citing the Foreign Ministry press service.

During the conversation, after an official ceremony in Buckingham Palace, historical ties were noted between the peoples of the two countries, which date back to the period of diplomatic correspondence between King Henry IV and Amir Temur in the early 15th century. as a recent positive momentum in bilateral relations.

The topic of large-scale and comprehensive reforms carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was separately discussed. The desire of Uzbekistan to use the best British experience in the processes of modernization of the country was emphasized, especially in the fields of education, parliamentarism, the rule of law, banking and financial sphere. Mention is made of the recent signing of the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, which was the first bilateral document concluded by Great Britain with the countries of Central Asia.

The Queen of Great Britain demonstrated her awareness of the cultural and historical heritage of Uzbekistan, primarily about the ancient architecture of Samarkand.

The head of the United Kingdom praised the government’s efforts for the priority development of the education sector, including the introduction of English in primary schools, and supported the need to further expand bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.
