UZBEKISTAN AND KAZAKHSTAN CELEBRATE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF ESTABLISHMENT OF DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS

October 23, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan marked an important date in the history of bilateral cooperation. On this day in 1992, the two countries established diplomatic relations.

Relations over the years have become multifaceted. A solid legal base consisting of over 200 interstate, intergovernmental and other documents has been created. Treaties on eternal friendship and strategic partnership, signed in 1998 and 2013 respectively are one of the main documents.

A political dialogue at the highest level covers the whole range of spheres of cooperation. For the current year, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Kazakhstan three times – in April, May and June. In turn, the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev paid a reciprocal state visit in our land in September.

Meetings of heads of two states gave a new impetus to strengthening cooperation in all areas, including economic and trade. This is evidenced by the increase in the volume of trade. The indicator just in the first six months of this year has increased by 11% to $1.12 billion. But this is not the limit. An important policy document – Action Strategy of economic cooperation in 2017-2019, adopted on 23 March this year serves as a bridge for achieving even greater results.
