Mamanbiy Omarov, First Deputy Minister of Transport of Uzbekistan, met in Islamabad with Syed Mazhar Ali Shah, Pakistan’s Additional Secretary for Railways, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport, the meeting resulted in an agreement to expedite the commencement of field studies for the preparation of a feasibility study for the construction of the “Uzbekistan -Afghanistan - Pakistan” railway project.

The parties also reached a consensus on the creation of a new transport corridor linking Pakistan, China, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, with plans to conduct pilot shipments along this route in February of this year.

During the delegation’s visit to Pakistan, which included representatives from leading transport and logistics companies from Uzbekistan, discussions focused on elevating bilateral cooperation in the transport and logistics sector to a new level and strengthening regional connectivity.
