A meeting of a delegation of analytical centers of Uzbekistan with the Director General of the Royal Institute for International Relations EGMONT Pol De Witte was held in Belgium.

Representatives of such leading analytical institutions of the country as the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR), the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA), the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies (ISRS), and the Center for Foreign Policy Studies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the meeting from the Uzbek side.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the current dynamics of the development of Central Asia, the region’s interaction with the outside world, and the prospects for developing interregional relations in the format of “Central Asia and the European Union”.

In particular, IICA Director Javlon Vakhabov noted that Central Asia has become an important region for the world’s leading countries. It was emphasized that today, the region is actively participating in more than 10 “CA+” formats, interacting with almost 40 countries and two regional organizations.

In turn, Director General Pol De Witte added that in the context of the dynamic development of Central Asia and its emergence as an independent actor on the global stage, the European Union needs to develop bilateral and multilateral relations with this region.

Following the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of establishing ties between Uzbekistan and European analytical structures and continuing the dialogue to discuss various aspects of bilateral cooperation.
