In order to ensure effective implementation of government policy in the field of forestry, sustainable use of forest resources, as well as pursuant to other tasks envisaged in the State program on realization of Action Strategy of five priority directions of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021, the head of state adopted the decree "On establishment of State Committee of Republic Uzbekistan on forestry" and "On arranging activities of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on forestry".
The adopted document provides for the improvement of this direction through reorganising the Main Department of forestry under the Ministry of agriculture and water management of Uzbekistan to independent State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on forestry.
