Uzbekistan is a contender for the Asian Games

The President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah and the delegation, which included the President of the International Kurash Association, Director of Asian Games Department of OCA Haider Farman and OCA Secretary Lucien Alvarez arrived in Tashkent to assess the possibility of holding competitions in Uzbekistan.

An application was submitted to the Olympic Council of Asia for hosting the Asian Games 2030 in two cities of Uzbekistan – Tashkent and Samarkand.

According to the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, the adoption and conduction of the Asian Games is a large project, the implementation of which takes into account many nuances and subtleties of the organization. This includes construction of sports facilities, a campus for sports delegations, issues related to logistics, organization of a convenient route and transport, broadcasting and much more.

These issues were discussed during the negotiations of the President of the National Olympic Committee Umid Akhmatjanov with OCA President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, as well as AIBA President Gafur Rakhimov.

Qatar, India and the Philippines also applied for the Asian Games 2030 in addition to Uzbekistan.

OCA President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah noted that Uzbekistan not only has all the chances to hold the Asian Games 2030, but also advantages, unlike the three contenders listed above. In particular, the Asian Games have never been held in Uzbekistan and organizing the event here will expand the geography of the Asian Games. Reforms carried out by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in all spheres, especially in sports are also a big advantage. The guest of honor highlighted this separately.

As the result, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah stated that Uzbekistan will present the project of holding the Asian Games 2030 at one of the OCA Assemblies.
