Uzbekistan, Japan continue strategic cooperation

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, S. Umurzakov, held a videoconference with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Japan, Taro Aso.

Current issues of investment and trade-economic cooperation and its prospects in the light of bilateral agreements reached as a result of the summit in Japan in December 2019 were discussed during the conversation. The priority of continuing systematic work on implementing common initiatives and projects in the current economic situation in the world was emphasized.

Issues related to the implementation of individual projects in agriculture, chemical and energy industries were considered. The mechanisms of interagency cooperation were discussed to accelerate the passage of the prescribed procedures within the framework of already launched projects with development of specific measures and proposals.

According to the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, an agreement was reached on further cooperation on implementation of large-scale investment projects in Uzbekistan with participation of Japanese investments aimed at improving the infrastructure and developing industrial potential.
