UZBEKISTAN NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM DEFEATS DPR KOREA 3-1

Uzbekistan national football team hosted DPR Korea national team at the Pakhtakor central stadium in their 2018 FIFA World Cup/2019 AFC Asian Cup joint-qualifier.

Having 9 points before the match, while DPR Korea had 13, Uzbekistan team could not even afford a draw in order to qualify in the first place. That;s why Uzbek players started the game in an attack mood.

However, DPR Korea opened the score in 3 minute after a counter-attack. Igor Sergeev headed the hosts level in the 24th minute after a pass from Server Jeparov.

Alexander Geynrikh doubled Uzbekistan’s lead in the 66th minute before skipper Odil Ahmedov sealed the 3-1 win with three minutes remaining. Sardor Rashidov assisted the goals in both cases.

Uzbekistan’s fourth consecutive victory took their points tally to 12 and Uzbek team strengthened their position in the group.

Uzbekistan will play against Yemen on 17 November in the next away match of the group qualifiers.
