The results of consistent efforts carried out in our country to ensure transparency of public authorities and management, protection of the constitutional rights of citizens to receive information are reflected in an article published in the newspaper Kuwait Times.
— The country has adopted a number of laws aimed at further democratization of governance and freedom of speech, - the newspaper writes. - Favorable conditions for the effective operation of the media have been created. The number of mass media has increased over the years of independence more than three times. The Uzbek media have rightfully become active participants in the process of democratic renewal and modernization of the country.
As newspaper reported, there is positive experiences in Uzbekistan to establish cooperation between the media and government authorities. Publication notes, in particular, that government agencies at all levels have information services and have organized their websites. Press conferences and briefings are being held, in which journalists receive satisfactory answers to their questions.
Special attention is drawn to the fact that the country regularly hosts major events with the participation of reputable foreign experts. They discussed the experience of Uzbekistan and foreign practice in the field of freedom of the press, expression and information. One such forum has been held in September this year in Samarkand, entitled "Transparency of public authorities and management - an important guarantee of the constitutional right of citizens to obtain information: experience of Uzbekistan".
In this connection, the opinion of one of participants of Samarkand conference has been cited - London University researcher, David Goldberg, who believes that transparency in state bodies’ activity is manifested in smooth receiving and disseminating information about their daily work.
— It is difficult to imagine without an effective media. In this regard, Uzbekistan has a large-scale work. The adoption of the relevant international norms of laws and other regulations is an important factor in the consistent development of media sphere - Kuwait Times quoted a British expert.
