Uzbekistan Prepares for the 150th Anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union

A regular meeting of the Organizing Committee for the 150th Anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union was held in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the information service of the upper house of Parliament, the meeting was chaired by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Sodik Safoyev.

As previously reported, at the initiative of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the 150th Anniversary Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union will be held in Uzbekistan from April 5-9, 2025.

A relevant decree by the President of Uzbekistan has approved the composition of the Organizing Committee and the Action Plan.

During the meeting, it was noted that the leaders and members of the parliaments of many countries, as well as delegations from international organizations, have registered to participate in the assembly.

Also, as part of the theme of the assembly "Parliamentary Movement for Social Progress and Justice", parliaments from around the world are sharing their experiences and reforms in the areas of social protection, poverty reduction, and the rule of law. Measures have been defined for the committees of the Inter-Parliamentary Union to organize various events throughout the week, focusing on issues related to human rights protection, gender equality, science and technology, and youth.

The meeting also discussed the implementation of a number of tasks for responsible workers in organizing the high-level global forum.
