Normal functioning and prosperity of any society can not be without sufficient social security, important part of which is a competent and timely medical care.
In Uzbekistan, for this purpose additionnaly being established a solid legal base, development and implementation of social policies, deliberate exchange of experience with foreign experts is carried out in this area. So, a few days ago Russian scientists visited our country to got acquainted with the work of medical institutions as Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara. In particular, in the metropolitan Scientific Research Institute of Virology a lecture on topical issues of prevention of viral hepatitis was held.
Correspondent of Information Agency "Jahon" spoke with a representative of the Russian delegation - Director of the Institute of Poliomyelitis and Viral Encephalitis named after M.P. Chumakov, Head of the Department of Microbiology and Virology of the Russian Peoples’ Friendship University, chairman of the All-Russian scientific and practical society of epidemiologists, microbiologists and Parasitology, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, professor Mikhail Ivanovich Mikhailov.
— The main purpose of our visit - exchange of views, experiences, expansion of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation and, of course, acquaintance with your beautiful country, because, despite the fact that I have been here before, over the years, many in the form of republic what changed.
I would especially like to emphasize that the Russian scientific circles of infectious disease specialists, virologists and epidemiologists are highly appreciated achievements of the Uzbek researchers in this field.
It is known that there are no borders for viruses, so it is extremely important to cooperate and to work together to combat them. In this regard, I would like to point out that if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange them, then each of us will have two ideas. Accordingly, I consider it logical active cooperation between our countries in various fields, in particular, participation in public health programs, the exchange of experience in various forums. For example, recently in Moscow a meeting of the heads of services of the SCO Member States responsible for ensuring sanitary and epidemiological welfare, which was attended by representatives of Uzbekistan.
We are very grateful to the Uzbek scientists for what they participate in international forums, which take place in our country. So, two years ago in Moscow, we organized a large scientific conference on viral hepatitis, and Uzbekistan took most active part in it.
We plan the organization of a joint conference of young scientists of the Research Institute of Virology, Institute of Poliomyelitis and Viral Encephalitis named after M.P. Chumakov, as well as the Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. On it, I’m sure we will be able to discuss a wide range of issues. To cite a simple example: today, there are new drugs that will effectively deal with hepatitis C, which is sometimes informally referred to as "the tender murderer" because it goes unnoticed for the patient and, destroying the liver, is resulting in death. I think this is a significant achievement.
Along with this, there are plans to set up special programs for scientific exchange, which will allow us to further strengthen our ties and increase the efficiency of our work.
In conclusion I would like to thank everyone for the warm welcome extended to us here, and once again mention the hospitality of the Uzbek people.
