The Japanese magazine Viewpoint published an article "Applied Art of Uzbekistan". Its author - the correspondent of the publication Susumu Fudzhihashi.

— Uzbekistan is located at the crossroads of the Great Silk Road, it is a bridge between East and West - noted in the material. - It is a country with an ancient history and rich culture, where since ancient times all kinds of crafts has been very developed".

The author informs that during the reign of Amir Temur and Timurids dynasty, Samarkand gathered scientists, architects and craftsmen fr om all around the world, wh ere science and culture flourished. Also applied arts have been developed there. Silk products made by Samarkand masters has turned this city famous throughout the world.

"After gaining independence, Uzbekistan has entered a period of revival of folk crafts. Applied arts and crafts has been newly restored and thriven. Folk artists get a lot of support from the government, and the preservation and promotion of customs and traditions is an important part of the ongoing cultural policy in the country", - S.Fudzhihashi emphasized.

It is noted that art pottery is one of the most ancient types of applied art. Rishtan, Gijduvan and Samarkand masters’ products are admiring by unique ornaments, bright colors and limitless imagination of authors.

"Active revival of arts and crafts is also observed in Fergana region. unique silk material "atlas" is very popular; it is manufactured by traditional technology", - the journalist said.
