Results of the VIII International scientific-practical conference "Avicenna readings" on the theme "The scientific heritage of Avicenna and actual problems of modern medicine", held on November 20-21 in Bukhara, excited great interest among the representatives of Ukraine.
Following the forum, the participants shared their views on the state of Uzbekistan’s policy aimed at reviving the priceless spiritual and scientific heritage of the nation, the most important decision of social and economic problems, including health care.
— It has been more than a thousand years since a prominent philosopher and physician Abu Ali Husain ibn Abdallah ibn Sina (Avicenna) stated his thoughts about health and healing in the "Canon of Medicine", - the honored doctor of Ukraine, Director of the Scientific-Practical Medical Center Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery at Ministry of Healthcare Ilya Yemets said.
— The basic principles of medicine, described in the works of scientists, we are using today. One example of a combination of high-tech scientific precepts Avicenna is the experience of our center in the use of autologous umbilical cord blood during cardiac surgery in infants with critical congenital heart disease. Avicenna claimed that the blood that the fetus receives through the umbilical cord in the womb, is the most physiologic. We use and develop his ideas in practice - I.Yemets said.
In turn, the president of the medical foundation EurAsia Heart (Switzerland), Professor Paul Robert Vogt noted that modern medicine has made incredible progress, and is built on the structure of the teachings of Avicenna and based on the understanding, clarification and innovation associated with the brilliant power of thought.
— Avicenna’s universal approach to matters of life and death, science and medicine, medical education was estimated to be the oldest universities in Europe, such as the University of Bologna in Italy, Belgium Loewe University, the University of Montpellier in France and the University of Krakow in Poland.
The professor stressed that, in addition to its universal approach, the outstanding genius of the East was ahead of his time. His contributions to various medical areas is timeless - P.Fogt concluded.
