WHAT DOES THE ELECTORATE FEEL CONCERNED ABOUT?

Meetings with their voters on the ground are of no less importance for parliament members than their legislative activities.

These meetings help the MPs to study the implementation of laws and get acquainted with the problems of concern for people. Such contacts link deputies, a political party and the parliament with the real life of the country.

The session of the faction of the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (PDPU) in the lower house of parliament has reviewed the results of the deputies’ meetings with voters and analyzed the issues raised at them.

The parliamentarians conducted 348 such meetings, “round tables” and workshops in July. They provided detailed information to their voters on the activities of the deputies’ corps; special attention was paid to supporting the vulnerable strata of population, improving the quality of medical services and employment of college graduates.

It is noteworthy that the MPs had the major part of raised issues resolved jointly with the local bodies of power in the field. Thus were resolved 335 citizens’ appeals, and 364 more are in the process of preparation for sending them for consideration of local authorities and taking action on their basis.

“In the course of my meetings with the voters I was asked quite a lot of questions, some of them were resolved on the spot, others are still in the process of consideration,” said member of the People’s Democratic Party faction in the lower house of parliament Qahramon Mirzayev. “But I believe that on the basis of these applications we need to find systemic solutions of the issues that worry people, and timely eliminate the causes of those problems.”

“The appeals express the complainants’ concerns regarding the payment of pensions and social benefits, employment of the youth, provision of outpatient services to people living in remote areas, improved security of medicamental supplies, raising the efficiency of rural health stations, operation of transport facilities,” said the parliamentarian. “We have to study the origins of each problem, which the population feels concerned about.”

Deputy of Oliy Majlis Avaz Urinboyev’s meetings with voters, among whom there were many young people, have aroused positive emotions. He noted that the youths and girls in their vast majority have their own independent judgment, feel optimistic about their future, and live with confidence in the morrow. According to him, those sentiments are among the greatest achievements of independence.

After analyzing the deputies’ activities in their electoral districts, members of the faction sent the heads of different organizations the questions and issues of concern raised by people in the regions.
