World Bank approves a new project in Uzbekistan

The Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank has approved a new project on institutional capacity building in Uzbekistan.

According to the Press Service of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, for the implementation of the project by the International Development Association, an organization within the World Bank Group will allocate 33 million USD loan.

Implementation of the project will contribute to strengthening the capacity in formation of the State budget, effective management of state-owned enterprises, and development of a public-private partnership system and an appropriate legislative framework.

The World Bank is supporting Uzbekistan by implementing 20 projects worth more than 3.5 billion USD, providing analytical and advisory services to the government of the country. This contributes to the growth of the national economy through conducting macroeconomic reforms, improvement of the system of management of agriculture and water resources, development of energy, transport, healthcare, education and urban management.
