Israeli magazine World of Travel published an extensive article entitled "Uzbekistan: physical culture and sport - from an early age".
As the newspaper writes, with gaining of the state independence Uzbekistan launched a completely new era of development. For nearly a quarter century, the country has made a breakthrough in many areas, including youth sports.
"The chronicle of Children’s Sport originates since 1991. In this difficult year young athletes won 32 medals of various denominations in international competitions. Then children’s specialized sports facilities could be counted on fingers. The gyms in schools and sports clubs engaged in only 8% of children. The situation required urgent action. Therefore, the first step was the adoption of the Law "On Physical Culture and Sports" of January, 14 1992. Then, sports buildings started to be built, sections of different sports have been opened", - Israeli magazine emphasizes.
There is detailed information about the progress of young Uzbek athletes at world and continental championships and the most prestigious international competitions in various sports.
Special attention in publication is paid to the activity of Fund of Children’s Sport, established in accordance with the decree of President Islam Karimov of October 24, 2002. The material reports that since the inception of Fund more than 1700 sports centers and other facilities with modern equipment and inventory have been built.
The article notes that in Uzbekistan, women and girls go in for mass physical culture and sports, including the popular rhythmic gymnastics, swimming, synchronized swimming, tennis and others.
The article also introduces the latest achievements of Uzbek athletes in international competitions.
2010, the football team of Uzbekistan U-16 became the silver medalist of Asian championship, and a year later, the same team entered the top eight teams in the world championship U-17 in Mexico. Brilliant successes achieved in 2012, the football team of the country up to 16 years, have become the champions of Asia.
In 2012, the Uzbek girl in synchronized swimming competitions in Malaysia, won 4 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Nine-year old chess player Nodirbek Abdusattarov won the world championship in rapid chess in the city of Maribor (Slovenia), which involved about 2600 athletes from 126 countries. In 2013 Nafisa Muminova became the first female chess player from Uzbekistan, received the title of International Grandmaster of FIDE.
2014 was the most successful. In August, the Chinese city of Nanjing held II Summer Youth Olympic Games, which involved more than 3500 athletes from more than 200 countries. Uzbek athletes have won 4 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals", - the newspaper writes.
In conclusion, it emphasizes that over 24 years of independence Uzbekistan has turned sport into a national movement. This is understandable, because the child involved in sports, sure of himself, and a man who understands and appreciate the beautiful, has a broad outlook. Such young people enrich society, never knock off the rack.
