YOUNG PEOPLE FAMILIARIZED WITH ELECTORAL LEGISLATION

At the press centre of Jizzakh electoral district No 4 for the elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a round-table conversation has been conducted with young people who are going to vote for the first time.

The event was attended by electoral commission members and students of vocational colleges and academic lyceums in the town of Jizzakh who have the right to vote in elections.

The 4 December 2016 elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan is an important political event in the life of the country.

It was noted that every citizen should exercise their right enshrined in the country’s Constitution and freely express their will, which is of special significance to the Motherland’s future.

Those young voters were familiarized with the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan” and “On guarantees of citizens’ voting rights” as well as with citizens’ constitutional rights specified in the electoral legislation.

Attention was paid to creating conditions for citizens to make complete use of their right in the elections and to ensuring strict observance of principles of equality, transparency and fairness.

It is expected that 844 thousand 309 people in Jizzakh electoral district No 4 will vote in the elections of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the round-table conversation, information was given about the work of the district electoral commission and its press service on the elections and about the main tasks of precinct electoral commissions.

“I will turn 18 in December. And I will exercise my right and vote in the elections for the first time. This right is specified in Article 117 of our Constitution. During today’s event, my knowledge about the electoral legislation was further augmented,” says Humoyun Tursunboyev.
