"ZAKHIRIDDIN MUHAMMAD BABUR - AN OUTSTANDING MILITARY LEADER, POLITICIAN, GREAT POET AND BRILLIANT SCIENTIST"

The great legacy of the world-famous Uzbek poet and historian, statesman Zakhiriddin Muhammad Babur these days is in the limelight.

Thus, the representatives of Kuwait shared their estimates of Babur’s significant contribution in historical and literary heritage of India and Uzbekistan.

James Andrew Thomas, General Manager of RAYS company:

— Coming from India, I am very familiar with the work and activities of the great son of Uzbek people Zakhiriddin Muhammad Babur. For a short period he managed to unite the feudal fragmentation of the country, creating a single centralized state. Under his rule in India, land and water relations have been streamlined and the tax system, as well as carried out extensive work on the landscaping. Built beautiful architectural buildings, including a mosque, canals and wells were built. In the major cities of India, in particular, in Delhi, Agra, Lahore and Devalpure Babur has laid parks and gardens with ornamental plants in Central Asian style. He drew particular attention to the development of agriculture. Thus, in India he was the first to use the experience of growing Central Asian melons and grapes. Babur constantly sought to strengthen trade and economic ties with Central Asia, Afghanistan and Iran. All of this reflected well in his memoirs – "Baburname".

It is noteworthy that Babur launched creative work and further developed by his descendants for centuries. The fact that Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal complex in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal in Agra is the best example of that. This complex combines elements of Indian, Persian and Arabic architectural styles. The Taj Mahal is now the "pearl of Muslim art in India and one of the recognized masterpieces of heritage, which is admired all over the world."

I want to emphasize that unlike other rulers of the world, Babur was not only an outstanding military leader and politician, but also a wonderful poet and a brilliant scientist. He had great respect for the culture and art of the peoples of Central Asia, Afghanistan and India, as well as a well-known local customs and specifics of these countries.

Suraya al-Baksami, a member of the Society of Writers and Artists of Kuwait:

— Zakhiriddin Muhammad Babur made a great contribution to the development of world science and art. He created masterpieces of literature which have been translated into many languages. They passed through the centuries and conquered the hearts of many generations of people.

Due to his outstanding abilities, Babur went down in history not only as a military leader and ruler, founder of the dynasty in India, the poet, but also a scientist who left a rich legacy in the field of Islamic jurisprudence.

I want to emphasize that, after independence, Uzbekistan pays great attention to the comprehensive study of Babur’s life and work that is important in the upbringing of the rising generation. In this regard, reprint of his works, including his memoirs "Baburname" in Uzbekistan allows the country’s public to get acquainted with bright and rich heritage of this great personality.
